( January 19, 2017, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Saint Teresa of Calcutta, more famously known as Mother Teresa, gave herself selflessly to “wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor.” She was canonized on 4 Sept. 2016.
Shri Navin B. Chawla is her official, authorized biographer and has served as Secretary to the Government of India and then as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Mr Navin Chawla, invited by His Eminence Oswald Garcia (Archbishop of Bombay), addressed the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) during its 30th bi-annual plenary assembly in Bangalore (1-8 Feb. 2012) on “The Church’s Role for a Better India.” More than 170 Bishops, national secretaries and other officials of the CBCI were in attendance.
